Dear Colleagues:

On behalf of the Mayo Clinic Board of Governors, welcome to the 2024 Annual Meeting of the Staff.

This year, we mark five years since we launched our Bold. Forward. plan to Cure, Connect and Transform healthcare. We remain grounded in our mission and values, and our focus on hope and healing while, at the same time, we have changed our daily practice of medicine, our approach to how healthcare should function and have seen the growing national and international recognition that the platform architecture we have built for healthcare is becoming more real and impactful for ourselves, our patients and our partners. We have affected more patient lives in 2024 than in any other time in our history.  

Over the last five years, we have taken digital and remote care tools and integrated them into routine patient care. We have moved from AI having a theoretical impact on healthcare to integrated AI tools that are improving patient care, automating routine tasks and helping us diagnose and treat diseases earlier than ever before. We have transformed foundational parts of healthcare resulting in expanded access to Mayo Clinic’s unrivaled quality of care and expertise, while also creating opportunities for new forms of collaboration and innovation.

Each of these breakthroughs, innovations, collaborations and transformations has been possible because of you and your colleagues. Since our founding over 160 years ago, we have seen how healthcare transformation starts with a bold, innovative idea from a Mayo Clinic operating room, clinical office or conference room and then spreads to transform care for patients across the world, and this work continues today.

This is why so many continue to look to Mayo Clinic – to all of you – as a beacon for hope and healing. As we look to the next five years and beyond of Bold. Forward., we know that – together, as one Mayo Clinic – there are no limits to what we can achieve in our pursuit to alleviate suffering and maximize thriving for our patients. Thank you for helping us to lead healthcare into this better, bright future for all, and for doing so while always grounded in our mission, our values and our shared purpose to inspire hope and promote healing and health for all.
