Dear Colleagues:
On behalf of the Mayo Clinic Board of Governors, welcome to the 2022 Annual Meeting of the Staff.
This meeting marks nearly three years into the pandemic, and the subsequent challenges have not only affected each of us professionally but have increasingly affected our communities and personal lives. Despite these hardships, you have continued to uphold the highest standards of excellence at Mayo Clinic, providing exceptional care to our patients, and compassion and support to your colleagues. You have advanced our work across our three shields of Practice, Research, and Education, as well as in legal and administration, and have ensured that we stand in a Category of One in each. Thank you for your commitment and perseverance to our mission, to our shared values, to our shields and to each other.
Even during challenging times, including those we face today, Mayo Clinic has always served as a beacon for hope and healing for our patients, and a foundation of support, community and shared purpose for our staff. Much of what now defines Mayo's excellence first started as a bold, innovative idea, ideas which were often realized during moments of significant challenge. Our continued history of innovation, excellence, scientific rigor, education and leadership have always differentiated us as leaders and as visionaries for the future of health care in the United States and globally and will continue to do so. Thanks to you, our Bold. Forward. plan is transforming Mayo Clinic across our sites and shields, and increasingly we are scaling our impact to our partners and collaborators as well.
In 2022, we began new, groundbreaking collaborations and partnerships, undertook a substantial rebuild of our digital infrastructure and committed to a large-scale investment in our physical facilities through Bold. Forward. Unbound. to serve the many patients who will still need to come to our facilities. This transformation is only possible thanks to the tireless effort and dedication of you, our staff, and the unique talents and insights you bring to the practice, to education, to research and to legal and administration. Thanks to you, the future of Mayo Clinic is bright.
Thank you for all that you have done and will do to make this future a reality, and for all that you do for your patients and your colleagues. Together, as one, we are leading health care toward a better, more sustainable future for all.
With gratitude,
Gianrico Farrugia, M.D.
