His colleagues present this token of their esteem and of their gratitude for his significant contributions to the establishment of Mayo Clinic Arizona by developing and leading the Department of Urology in its formative years; for being an integral part of the feasibility study, site and architect selection for Mayo Clinic Arizona; for serving as Vice Chair of the Board of Governors and the Medical Director of Development; for his leadership and guidance working with the Office of Brand Managements in investigating and describing the Mayo Brand; for his exemplary educational skills manifest by his founding and chairing the Mayo Clinic Arizona Education Committee; for establishing and directing the Urology residency by mentoring multiple physicians and educational administrators; for being the first chair of the Mayo Clinic Arizona Surgical Council; for being selected multiple times as Educator of the Year and by being recognized as a Distinguished Mayo Educator; for his national reputation and leadership in Urology shown by ascending to the Presidency of the Western Section of the American Urological Association; for serving on multiple national committees and by receiving the ultimate honor of serving as President of the American Urological Association; for his honorable service as a United States Air Force officer; for his unique ability to enjoy life on a motorcycle, bicycle or a pair of skis; by his partnership with his spouse to raise three enormously talented and successful children; and for his steadfast loyalty to that living body of high principles that were initiated by the Founders, William James Mayo, M.D., and Charles Horace Mayo, M.D., and that now clearly are recognized as the ideals of Mayo Clinic.
