His colleagues present this token of their esteem and of their gratitude for making each of us feel we are his sole focus in the moment; for his life-long commitment to putting the needs of patients and their families first; for his service to our country in the United States Navy; for giving of himself in the mentorship of future leaders and peers; for his enduring calm presence and thoughtful guidance, especially in the most difficult circumstances; for being an inspirational and inclusive leader; for serving the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology and facilitating the development, growth, and success of Mayo Medical Laboratories on the Mayo Clinic Florida Campus; for serving in Operations Administrator roles including Anesthesiology, Pre-operative Evaluation Clinic, Pain Medicine, Pain Rehabilitation Center, and Respiratory Services; for mastering and sharing his talents as a problem solver, strategic thinker, solution-based decision maker, and superb negotiator with his colleagues and physician partners; for embodying integrity and humility; for intentionally balancing time with his family, his professional endeavors, and personal interests of military history, sports, working outdoors and fishing; and for his steadfast loyalty to the living body of high principles that were initiated by the founders, William James Mayo, M.D., and Charles Horace Mayo, M.D., and that now clearly are recognized as the ideals of Mayo Clinic.
