His colleagues present this token of their esteem and of their gratitude for his dedication to Mayo Clinic and the patients we serve; for his unwavering embodiment of the Mayo/Franciscan Values; for his constant mentorship and advocacy for his colleagues’ professional advancement; for his ability to inspire and lead teams by nurturing, mentoring, and developing talent; for his collaborative engagement amongst all disciplines; for his unwavering commitment and leadership in implementing the first integrated electronic health record in Arizona, Florida, and across the health system; for his innovative spirit used to develop, grow, and support the Information Technology department transformation into an enterprise-wide shared service; for his honesty, courage, and candor in challenging assumptions and sharing his ideas; for his ability to bring fun into the work place and form genuine friendships with colleagues across the enterprise; for his inexhaustible joie de vie and his travel adventures on land and sea; for his love of family especially his wife Pat, their four children, and one grandchild; and for his steadfast loyalty to that living body of high principles that were initiated by the Founders, William James Mayo, M.D., and Charles Horace Mayo, M.D., and that now clearly are recognized as the ideals of Mayo Clinic.
