His colleagues present this token of their esteem and of their gratitude for his mastery of the field of anesthesiology and pain medicine; for his compassionate dedication to relieving the suffering of patients in Pain Clinic and the inpatient hospital service, as recognized by the Karis Award; for always being courteous and kind; for his commitment to the team approach to patient care and his respect for each member of the team; for his dedication to mentoring younger colleagues in career growth; for his service as Pain Clinic resident education director; for his many practice innovations and memorable gifts of his fluoroscopy pointer; for his many years of service and contributions to the Mayo Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, and the Medication Safety Subcommittee; for his wonderful sense of humor; for his love of family and community; for his contributions to Holy Spirit Church and the Interfaith Hospitality Network; for his passion for coffee, downhill skiing, and restoring historic boats; and for his steadfast loyalty to that living body of high principles that were initiated by the Founders, William James Mayo, M.D., and Charles Horace Mayo, M.D., and that now clearly are recognized as the ideals of Mayo Clinic.
