His colleagues present this token of their esteem and of their gratitude for his years of service to the Division of Preventive, Occupational, and Aerospace Medicine in numerous roles, including Practice chair, Vice-chair, and Interim chair; for developing future practitioners as Preventive Medicine Residency Program Director; for his compassion to his colleagues by founding and directing the Mayo Clinic Physician Health Center; for his efforts in education as editor of the Mayo Clinic Guide to Self-Care and editor of the newsletters Mayo Clinic Health Letter and HealthQuest for 25 years; for his leadership as Medical Director for Mayo Medical Services, Inc.; for his expertise and innovation as chair of Patient Provided Information for the Electronic Medical Record; for his remarkable collegiality and always being a positive role-model; for his ever ready willingness to see extra patients and volunteer for whatever roles were needed throughout his career; and for his steadfast loyalty to that living body of high principles that were initiated by the Founders, William James Mayo, M.D., and Charles Horace Mayo, M.D., and that now clearly are recognized as the ideals of Mayo Clinic.
