His colleagues present this token of their esteem and of their gratitude for his career-long devotion to innovation that has, and will benefit all Mayo Clinic patients; for innovation made possible by Mr. Beck’s contributions to Mayo Medical Ventures, Research Administration, Information Technology, the Center for Individualized Medicine (CIM) and the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology (DLMP); for his role in the creation and management of the Molecular Medicine and Genomics Research Programs and the creation of the Minnesota Partnership for Biotechnology and Medical Genomics; for his critical role in the creation of the Enterprise Data Warehousing Section and the Enterprise Data Trust; for his absolutely pivotal role in the creation and maturation of CIM; for his leadership in the process of integration of the Department of Clinical Genomics and molecular genomic aspects of DLMP with CIM; for his role in the launch of a Digital Pathology Program within DLMP; for his management and support of a series of COVID-19-related initiatives during the SARS-CoV-2 Pandemic; for his role in DLMP vertical and horizontal integration to expedite innovation; for the launch of a digital pathology program within DLMP; for the fact that — throughout his long and highly productive career — he has maintained the respect and admiration of his colleagues; and for his steadfast loyalty to that living body of high principles that were initiated by the Founders, William James Mayo, M.D., and Charles Horace Mayo, M.D., and that now clearly are recognized as the ideals of Mayo Clinic.
