On behalf of the Mayo Clinic Board of Governors, welcome to the 2023 Annual Meeting of the Staff.

Over the past year, even as Mayo Clinic and healthcare have experienced significant innovation and change, we should also recognize and be thankful for what has not changed: the unrivaled care, compassion, and dedication of you—our Voting and Consulting staff—and your colleagues, who every day live out our mission to provide Category-of-One healthcare to our patients with unmatched expertise that exists truly nowhere else in the world.

Since our founding, Mayo Clinic has been defined by both change and stability. We pursue change in our ceaseless drive to create an ever better future for healthcare, and stability in our enduring commitment to our mission and values and, most importantly, our primary value to always put the needs of our patients first. It has been the same since the days of Dr. Will and Dr. Charlie and this will always set Mayo Clinic apart.

We are now four years into our Bold. Forward. plan to Cure, Connect, and Transform healthcare. We are more connected to each other and to our patients than ever before, and we are breaking down the traditional silos within healthcare to create a freer model of collaboration and access. We are caring for our patients wherever they may be, including in the comfort of their homes, with Mayo Clinic's unparalleled quality and caliber of care. All of this is only possible thanks to you and your colleagues, and your tireless work across our sites and shields, and all you do to show that, together, a better model of healthcare is possible.

In 2023, we also reached significant milestones across all our sites through Bold. Forward. Unbound., revitalizing and reimagining our physical spaces for decades to come. Throughout our history, Mayo Clinic has leveraged our infrastructure to not only improve healthcare, but to set a new, even better standard for what innovative, compassionate, and excellent care spaces can and should be. Across the enterprise, we can see how these new spaces are reinventing the digital-physical healthcare experience for our patients, and how we will use them to drive an innovative and highly integrated experience for current and future generations. Thank you for all you have done to make this investment possible, and for sustaining our mission as these new facilities come to life. This is the future of Mayo Clinic and our vision for the future of healthcare; digital and physical care that works seamlessly to help more patients lead thriving lives, provided by staff who find purpose and belonging at Mayo Clinic. As in past times of uncertainty and change, we will continue thriving and leading by example because of what has always set us apart: our mission, our values, and, most of all, you – the exceptional staff of Mayo Clinic.
